 therland will tell the tale of the The Brahan Seer\, a legendary figure fa
 mous for his gift of second sight.\n\nHe is known throughout Scotland and 
 the Scottish Diaspora\; indeed\, anywhere there is an interest in looking 
 into the future.\n\nOver time\, from the seventeenth century to the presen
 t\, numerous prophecies have been attributed to the Brahan Seer.\n\nThe pr
 ophecies describe the changes - some trivial\, some momentous - to Scottis
 h Highland culture and society. These\, in turn\, shaped the legend’s de

 litician\, railway entrepreneur and finally Canadian High Commissioner in

 is life was shaped by the expansion of empire and the global economy in th

 ty as the Forres Heritage Trust welcomes Professor Marjory Harper to prese
 nt the first of its Winter Talks series.\n\nProfessor Harper will give a s
 napshot of Morayshire’s migration throughout the 19th and 20th centuries
  in her talk: Snapshots from Morayshire’s migration album: two centuries
  of adventure and exile”\n\nTwo million Scots emigrated from their homel
 and in the 19th century\, and a further two million in the 20th century.\n
 \nMorayshire has always been well represented in the Scottish diaspora\, t
 hough as Professor Harper will explain\, its story has perhaps been somewh
 at neglected.\n\nThe talk will look at the triggers for emigrating\, the m
 eans by which decisions were implemented\, the experiences and impressions
  of Morayshire Scots overseas\, and the impact of return migration.\n\nPro
 fessor Harper who co-ordinates the online Master’s Programme in Scottish
  Heritage\, will make extensive use of personal testimony – written and 
 oral – to explore the complex and often contradictory saga of emigration

 – 12-4pm\n\nCome and conquer Nelson's Tower and enjoy one of the best vi
 ews across Moray. Completed in 1812 in memory of Admiral Nelson\, the towe
